Progress with Technology

The technology committee here at the UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center evaluates and recommends technology solutions with the goal to enhance our online courses and improve efficiencies in our office.

This past year was a productive one from a technology standpoint, finding the Distance Learning Center Technology Committee completing 12 of the 18 items that were on our project list at the beginning of the year. Major projects this past year included selecting a contact management software. This will improve our communication with prospective corporate partners. We also evaluated and recommended a new web conferencing tool that will enhance our distributed meetings related to distance education and reduce the need for travel.

Ongoing projects include research and evaluation of new technologies for use in classes and for improved office efficiencies. We look forward to continuing our work in the new year, using technology to improve distance education for students, faculty, and staff alike.
